Races

I know it;s a lot to sift through, but you don't have to read every single section if you don't want to. While you don't have to read this entire mess to play a magisprit, I would really suggest you read the first part here. It will help in creating your character. It woul also help if you read about the particular type of magisprit you want to make.

Magisprits
Magisprits are typically hard to find, as they rarely leave their homes. Most refuse to eat meat in general, preferring to eat fruits and vegetables, so that they don?t end up eating any of their friends. They tend to dress in clothing that shows their small, but slender and beautiful bodies. While some keep to themselves and are frightened by males, most are very flirtatious, as there are no males within their species.

Within their race, the oldest of each magisprit is the Mother Magisprit. She rules over the rest of the magisprits in the group, keeping them together and keeping them in line. The other magisprits call each other sisters, whether or not they?re the same type of magisprit. They also call the other Mother Magisprits by their proper title, as well, sometimes adding their proper element to the end of it.

Magisprits are immortal beings, and they?re existence alone keeps the elements in their natural balance. They age as normal humans, up until they reach maturity. This can vary between individuals, and the age that they appear to be can vary from sixteen all the way into the forties. Because of several wars against them, their population can only decrease, and will not increase, because there can be no full magisprits born.

However, they are not quite so easy to kill. If, within a certain time, they are brought back to their proper element, they can be revived, and will return to normal. If not, then they will die, and that particular soul will be gone. However, the body can still be brought to the element and revived, but the face will no longer resemble the soul that once lived in the body. They become someone else entirely, without any of the same memories or knowledge. They have to start over from scratch, learning all of their control and abilities all over again. However, once they reach this point after death, they need the aid of a Mother Magisprit to bring them back, and sometimes they will simply allow them to die, as the personality will often remain similar.

Magisprits, according to legend, were born from their respective elements. They were designed by spirits to control and protect their natural element. They were created long before all of the other races, and can be so much more powerful than any other race. They exist as natural peacekeepers, and as a peaceful race.

However, despite their original calm nature, some have developed nasty attitudes and can be vicious in a fight. Many, whether gentle or mean, are extremely defensive against trespassers, and do not allow anyone into their homes, the exception being other magisprits and some half magisprits.
This has been because of the people invading their homes, and often killing several of their own to accomplish it. For some of the magisprits, this has bred a natural dislike to others, and for some, a great fear. In any case, to avoid such great killings, the magisprits have taken to hiding themselves from people, either to avoid a war and more of their family being killed, or to simply prevent fear from growing among their population. Few mistrust outsides, although males tend to be an exception, depending on their appearance. Even then, they are not allowed to remain with the magisprit family for long without a fight.

Magisprits have no problem playing around and sleeping with others, although most are incapable of carrying children, and those that are often either don?t survive, or the children don?t survive. However, there are half magisprits that do exist, and some of them are male. These may not, at first, show any potential to control the element of their mother, and they may never, if they do not realize they are half magisprit. Half magisprits are capable of controlling their power, with difficulty. They must show emotion reflecting that of their mother?s normal behavior, which depends on the type of magisprit.

Half magisprits, while in general are considered family to the magisprits, are not accepted until they show the potential to use the power their mother had. Therefore, they must prove their control over their mother?s element, no matter how feeble it is. They may teach the half magisprits to use that power, but until their emotion reflects their element, and they prove that they are half magisprit, they remain outcasts.

It is hard to decide if someone has any magisprit in them, as they never look like the mother. Instead, they look much more like their father, which makes it much harder to accept a half magisprit when they have shown no potential to control any element. Even then, a half magisprit will normally only be accepted by the group that controls the same element they do. A magisprit group will not accept a half magisprit that does not share the same element.

A half magisprit may have extra powers in addition to the control of their element, depending on the race of their father. However, they do not control their element nearly as well as their mother does. If their father has a power of his own, then the child may also control that power fully. The blood of another race flowing through them weakens the magisprit powers, but gives them the advantage of not having the same weaknesses as their magisprit mothers.

Okay, so I know this is a lot to look through, so I'll list them in order. This way, you'll be able to search through for the one you want. Or, if you really like to read, it can be used as a table of contents for you, so you know what to ecpect. Remember, although it is included, you may not be a soul magisprit. If I allow this character to be made, it will be much, much later. And, even if the character shows up at all, it might just be an NPC. So, for now, just use it as a reference for when it does happen, or as an interesting bit of reading. Tha types are as follows:

Water Magisprits
Water magisprits live in areas where there is plentiful water, normally around rivers and lakes. Only very rarely can they be found near the ocean, as they prefer areas of freshwater, though some can be found where there are glaciers. They avoid living where there are people, particularly humans, and often live where there is a great amount of wildlife, particularly creatures that live in water.

Their looks reflect the water that they so cherish. Their eyes and hair are often any shade of blue, and can be of any shade. As for clothing, they normally wear clothing that is blue, matching their hair and eyes, and are normally light and thin. They don?t normally wear shoes, although a few will wear them to add to their disguises on the off chance that they are hiding among humans.

Water magisprits possess a great control of water, provided there is water nearby, as they are unable to summon it over long distances. Most are docile, and while they can use their control of water to their advantage in a fight, they instead turn their powers to healing, and keeping themselves concealed. They are able to turn their bodies into water, whether or not they?re in or out of water, to traverse long distances, and to prevent from taking too much damage to their bodies. Ice is normally used as a shield, rather than a weapon, and mist is used to make a fog, to hide themselves from view.

They are easily frightened, running from anything that isn?t normally found in their home. They are very close to each other, and to the fish and creature that live in and around their homes. They refuse to eat fish, or even sea food in general. Instead, they eat more fruits than anything else.
While they can turn into water if they are injured physically, water magisprits can be killed fairly easily. Being around fire or out in the sun for too long dehydrates them much more quickly than any other being, just as water evaporates from heat. This is why they stay near water and refuse to travel much. They also remain in tropical areas, however, because if they freeze, they die, too. In order to bring them back, they must be placed in warm water.

Fire Magisprits
Fire magisprits have the worst tempers of them all. They are very determined, and will never walk away from a fight that has already started. While they do not hesitate to attack an enemy, or to even kill them, they can be calm and gentle at times. However, this side of them is extremely rare, and so has never been seen, except among the other fire magisprits.

Fire magisprits have bright red hair along with red eyes, making them easy to find and point out. They prefer to wear red clothing, as long as the clothing is light and airy. They do not wear shoes, preferring to walk barefoot rather than protecting their feet. These magisprits are also known for carrying around metal weapons, and covering them with fire when they fight.

They also have a great passion for warm areas. They will never be found around areas with a great amount of water, or where there is snow. They much prefer areas around volcanoes and in deserts, and can occasionally be found near hot springs. Fire and lava do not harm them at all, and in fact seems to have a calming effect on them.

Perhaps because of their hot tempers, fire magisprits are good fighters, and don?t often loose. They can be very stubborn, and will not change their minds for anything; not right away, anyway. They don?t accept others easily, not even males. They?re even wary of the other magisprits, seeing them as beings that bring trouble with them, as most will leave fire magisprits alone more than the other magisprits.

They can create fire if there is enough heat around them, and use fire primarily as a weapon. They are very straightforward when attacking. They don?t hold back, and rarely hesitate. They are also able to turn their bodies into fire, and can disappear into heat. Sometimes they are known to even disappear into lave/magma, only to reappear normally behind their foe. The favorite weapon among the fire magisprits is a sword, which they can catch on fire to burn their opponents as well as actually cutting them.

They are killed with water, and cold weather and ice weakens them greatly. It restricts their ability to use their powers. A small gust of wind can help to increase their power slightly, but a powerful wind strips them of their powers completely, and a strong enough wind can kill them. In order to be brought back after being killed, they must be brought to a volcano, or even to a fire.

Air Magisprits
Air magisprits are often mistaken as water magisprits because they also have blue hair and eyes. However, air magisprits have a much lighter color in their hair and eyes. Their clothing often varies in color, but is almost always a light, pale color. They will never be found wearing shoes, and their clothing is always light, thin, and sometimes barely even there.
They can be found anywhere, as long as there can be great gusts of wind. Normally, this means they live in open plains and deserts. They do not like mountains or areas inhabited by humans, as the buildings and mountains get in their way and block their wind.

Air magisprits find it hard to be serious, and prefer games to fighting. They see everything as a game, and are dangerously optimistic at times. They are not frightened easily, and are very curious. In this, their behavior is more like that of a child rather than any other magisprit, which show great wisdom as immortals. They are very close to each other, and more than willingly allow strangers to see them, sometimes trying to get them to play games with them.

Most often, these magisprits are wanderers, never staying in one place for too long. They do not think of what danger or trouble there is in the world, and so do not bother to avoid it. Because of this, these magisprits have proven to be few; they have no problem showing themselves, and so are often killed and buried.

The air magisprits can be revived by leaving them out in the open, where they can feel the air around them. However, as most bury their dead, their bodies are often buried instead, where they cannot revive until the body is uncovered. They can easily be killed by enclosed spaces; there they find it hard to breathe and suffocate, whether or not they are getting air. They also need to be constantly moving, or have a constant breeze.

Normally, their control of the wind is used for their games rather than anything else. They can control the wind to help them fly, and can even become a breeze to hide or run. In the case of a fight, though, when they are threatened, they will help fight is there is a friend in trouble. If not, they will use their control of the wind to run and hide until the danger has passed.

Air magisprits love being in wind storms, and find them to be perfect playgrounds. They will almost always be happy and in a good mood, and love to share that good mood with everyone around them. They are happiest when those around them are happy, or when they are playing a game. While they are wanderers and travel a lot in small groups, they still call each other sisters and still have only one Mother Magisprit.

Earth Magisprits
Earth magisprits tend to be quiet, and keep to themselves. Their hair and eyes tend to be anywhere from a light tan to a deep dark brown, and their eyes always match the shade of their hair, although not precisely. Their clothing, while some are as showy as the other magisprits, is somewhat thicker, and provides more protection. They tend to prefer darker clothing, as it helps them blend in in their favorite places.

They prefer to live in areas secluded, and don?t even like each other?s company half the time. Still, they respect each other, and will tolerate the company of others as long as necessary, and as long as they can stay without hurting the feelings of the other.

Their favorite places are often caves and tunnels deep underground. Several can also be found wandering mountains, searching the tunnels and caves there, and some living there. They refuse to live too close to each other, and especially avoid living near any other magisprits, or any other race.

Earth magisprits tend to be very serious, and will not often play around. They are very stubborn, and do not adapt well to change. They like being independent, and show their strength by proving that they can live on their own. That being said, they still respect and obey their Mother Magisprit. They are not very active, preferring to stay in one spot, often watching the world around them, or studying the rocks around them, and their homes.

They are a very defensive magisprit, controlling the rocks around them to turn them into barriers. Then they turn other rocks and stone around them into weapons to throw at any foes and opponents. They do not turn or run from a fight, if only out of stubbornness rather than anger. Once they find their homes, they will defend it at all costs, and will never give them up. They use their control of the earth to shape their homes to make them more defensible, keep them from collapsing, and to make them more comfortable and suit their tastes.

They are hard to kill; they cannot swim, so the only way to kill them is to drown them. It is hard to separate them from their homes, though, and their daily routine, so getting them near enough to water is very complicated. They can only be revived by burying them soon after death. They can turn their bodies to stone, and travel through rocks and stone.

Shadow Magisprits
Shadow magisprits have black hair, and their eye color varies from a gray to black, sometimes even purple. Their clothing covers more of their bodies than most magisprits, to help them blend into the shadows. They tend to be quiet, but rather open to those that they know well, especially other magisprits.

They also tend to be very secretive, keeping themselves hidden in shadow using their control over shadows and the darkness in general. They?re great at sneaking around, and often do so even without a purpose but to wander. They are a very close-knit group of magisprits, much closer than any other group.

Shadow magisprits prefer to run and hide, and would much rather run to save themselves than stay to protect anyone else. They aren?t cowards, but they know when best to run, and would rather not be seen by anyone but other shadow magisprits. They prefer to be independent, and so don?t often show themselves to anyone; when they are seen, they go to great pains to escape and avoid detection again.

While they are very free spirits, shadow magisprits are the only ones known to interact willingly with any other race. They are more than willing to use their abilities for others, for the right price. They don?t take money, but will take food, or small trinkets they like, making them good people to hire as thieves, assassins, or even spies. They are more than willing to help out others? for the right price.

They are killed when they are out in brightly lit areas for too long. They can?t stand the sunlight, and avoid anything that gives off a glow, even if there are magical properties involved. To bring them back, they need to be placed in darkness, or to simply wait for night. This makes them the hardest to get rid of. Even if the bodies are buried, there is still enough dark for them to revive, and they do not suffocate in the dark.

They are capable of blending their bodies into shadows, and hiding and travelling that way. They much prefer solid blackness to dim darkness, and often go to great pains to create that pitch blackness, especially in their homes.

Light Magisprits
Light magisprits live wherever there is a lot of sunlight. However, they do not have a true home. Wherever the light happens to be at that point in time is their home. They are almost constantly on the move, and rarely ever stop in one place for very long. Despite their nomadic life, however, they like to stop and talk to people along the way. They are far from solitary creatures, and seek others, no matter the race, when they are stuck on their own.

They have full control over the light, and are often made out to be enemies of the shadow magisprits, although they do get along just fine. They simply don?t remain in the same area for very long because of their preferences. They love company, and go to great pains to find it.

Light magisprits are very brightly colored. They have blonde hair, anywhere from a dirty blond to almost bright yellow. Their eyes are also bright, anywhere from gold to yellow. They prefer light clothing that covers most of their skin, and are very fond of any accessories that they find. They like to think that they are allowed to do whatever they want, and are very whimsical.

Their outgoing behavior makes them the type of magisprit that is most often killed, most often by locking them up. Their deaths are most often accidental, normally someone shutting them away in a dark room, unaware that it will kill them. They are not often revived, though, because they need sunlight, and as their deaths are accidental, they are buried, keeping them away from the sunlight.

Despite all this, though, they do not hold grudges against anyone. They are very forgiving, and accept most anyone as their friend. They hate fighting, and will go to any lengths to avoid it. Sometimes, though, they see the only escape as killing their attacker, and so while they are the friendliest, they are also one of the most dangerous.

They can bend the light around them, and most often do so to create mirages, and to hide themselves. Hiding like this and waiting for someone to find them is one of their favorite games. They can travel through the light when they need to leave. Often, they leave without saying anything to their most recent friend, leaving them confused.

Plant Magisprits
Plant magisprits are only found in areas where there are plenty of plants. They prefer forests and jungles to open plains. A few can be found on mountaintops, in the evergreen forests there.

They always have green hair and eyes, although sometimes their eyes may instead be a greenish-gold. They can have any shade of green in their hair or eyes. They prefer light, thin clothing. Most will wear green, but a few will wear colors of the most common flowers around them, and very few simply wear the color of their favorite flowers or plants.

They have full control over plants, and can bend them to their will. They prefer to trap their opponents, using vines to hold them while they make their escape. Many have been known, however, to hold prisoners. They can be sadistic, and love a good fight? as long as they?re the ones winning.

They are good at knowing what they want, and plotting to get it. However, they aren?t evil magisprits. They simply know what they want and the best way to get it, as far as they?re concerned, is through force. They are very firm believers in justice, and will seek revenge if one of their own is killed.

They have complete control over all plants, and can even turn into a plant to hide. What plant they turn into depends on where they are, and their favorite plant in the area. They can also understand and speak with plants. This allows them to know everything that?s going on in their homes, and to communicate with each other when separated.

They are skilled fighters, using the plants only to help them when necessary. They know how to fight, and most use blunt weapons they can find, such as limbs and sticks. They will most often use their control over plants to turn these sticks into proper weapons before they fall off their parent plant; they choose their weapon before the part actually falls off, as they refuse to tear the plants apart.

They can be killed by cold and fire, as well as lack of water, or too much water. However, as long as there are plants nearby, they can revive pretty quickly. They rely on the plants only as a last resort, and as their homes. They can alter the plants around them into a home that suits their tastes.

Animal Magisprits
Animal magisprits are free spirits, living anywhere plenty of animals live. They are most at home wherever their favorite animal lives. Because of this, they are scattered all over, and live in much smaller groups, despite the fact that they are not nomadic.

They most often have orange hair, sometimes brown. For this, they may be mistaken for earth magisprits. Their eyes, however, are always some shade of orange.

Their behavior varies depending on their favorite animal. This leads to many disputes about what animal magisprits are really like. Most are fairly easy-going, and very dependent on whatever other animal magisprits, and the animals, that live there.

Most often, though, they are very defensive. They dislike intruders, and fight to keep them out. After that, though, their behavior simply matches that of their favorite animal. They can turn into an animal to hide, to make others think they are nothing but another animal. The only problem being that their eye color does not change. This is noticeable by anyone that pays enough attention.

If they fight, they do not use any weapons. Instead, they prefer to fight with their bare hands, and with the aid of the animals around them. Even if the animal is not their favorite, they are capable of controlling them completely, and can call them to help them fight, or flee. They also use the animals to communicate amongst each other.

They can be killed the same way any animal can, although usually it is specific to their favorite animal. If they are put near their home, preferably near an animal they had attached themselves to, they can be revived easily. However, if they wander too far from their home, chances are their animal did not follow them, and so they must be transported quickly.

They typically accept anyone who is fond of their favored animal, as long as it isn?t as food. They are also extremely social creatures, and require company. Lack of company, animal or otherwise, can lead to boredom, and sometimes depression and suicide.

Soul Magisprit
Not much is known about soul magisprits. All that is known is that is always only one soul magisprit at any time. They were always few, but have only in recent years been decimated to the point that only one exists. When one soul magisprit dies, the next magisprit reborn becomes the new soul magisprit.

The soul magisprit has silver or white hair, and either grey or silver eyes. They have no home, nor any Mother Magisprit, aside from the one they were revived to. Even then, they are not directly attached to the Mother Magisprit, and so are not required to listen to them. Instead, they wander on their own, searching for something; no one knows what.

A soul magisprit?s power is to keep balance. They settle any arguments between Mother Magisprits, and act as a go-between for magisprits and the other races. However, the soul magisprit is almost never seen. She wanders, keeping herself hidden, hiding from anyone who wants her to use her other powers.

As the soul magisprit, she has power over life itself. Her abilities allow her to see into the heart and minds of those around her, and to hold some sway over their thoughts and ideas. As she hides, she searches; for what, no one but the soul magisprit knows. This search is passed on to the next soul magisprit instinctively. While they know what they are looking for, they do not know why. The only one who ever knew was the original soul magisprit. Rumor is that, though her body is damaged, her soul still wanders, following the current soul magisprit.

It is unknown how they die, for they have never died by the hands of any humanoid being. There is much speculation as to how they die, and many disputes, but no one has ever actually managed to kill the soul magisprits. How they died in such a great number is also unknown, but it is suspected that either the cause or the cure is what the soul magisprit constantly searches for. They are only brought back when a magisprit of another type is born; they cannot be revived into their own body.

Of course, you can make another race if you'd like, as long as they aren't too overpowered. However, if you do add in another race, or add abilities to a human character, or anything of the sort, let me know here, to avoid too much confusion and allow for better organization. I'm allowing for your own races or your own twists to existing races here. This is partly to encourage you to get creative. It is also partly to make the rp a little more interesting.
